Bureau of Justice Statistics New Victimization Report

The Bureau of Justice Statistics recently released its 2018 report summarizing data collected from the National Criminal Victimization Survey (NCVS), entitled Criminal Victimization, 2018. Some highlights from the report are included below:

- The number of violent-crime victims age 12 or older rose from 2.7 million in 2015 to 3.3 million in 2018, an increase of 604,000 victims, or approximately 22%
- Only 11% of victims of violent crime received services from a victim services agency, however those rates were higher among victims of intimate partner violence and victims of violent crime who suffered an injury
- The rate of violent victimizations not reported to the police per 1,000 persons increased nearly 36% from 2015 to 2018 (from 9.5 per 1,000 to 12.9 per 1,000)

You can check out the entire report by viewing the attached document.
